The First Time I Read Harry Potter

Review: What’s scarier, supernatural forces or bad parenting?

The first time I read the Harry Potter series, I was a very young child. My mom, who had read the Harry Potter series as a kid, had gifted me an old copy of the original stories as a Christmas present. I remember thinking it was a big waste of money when I was a kid because I knew the books were just going to be read a lot during Christmas. I was 10 at the time.

My mom, being a true believer of the magical world of Harry Potter, insisted I read the books right away. She wanted to know everything about Harry Potter.

I remember the first time I read Harry Potter when I was like 10, I think, because I don’t remember that my mom wasn’t in the room with me. In fact, I remember being totally oblivious to her presence and the fact that she was not that interested in my reading.

My mom was sure that she was going to be the one to read and share Harry Potter with someone else, and they were going to be her friends.

My mom was worried that she was going to be the one that Harry Potter would destroy. She had no idea how many things I had in my mind about the books. The very first thing I was told when the books first came out was that Harry Potter was going to destroy families. The very first thing I did when I finished the first book was tear the pages of the book out and throw them in the trash.
