World No. 1 and US Open champion Iga Swiatek speaks to CNN
Swiatek was the youngest player to be crowned world No. 1 when she won back-to-back Opens this summer.
Pete Sampras was only 36 when he became first man to earn five consecutive Grand Slam singles titles and the Open, Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open titles.
Swiatek is the first woman in history to win the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in the same calendar year.
“We are all going to be more active. And in my case, I think tennis needs more kids like me. I think it’s the best format to develop people,” said Swiatek, who is ranked No. 5.
“And I’m already thinking about who I can play next. It’s really cool because it’s not just me. It’s about making dreams come true,” Swiatek continued, before adding, “It’s like I was playing against Roger by accident.”
